Laminated Glass

Laminated glass is created by bonding two or more panes of glass together using a plastic interlayer — usually PVB (polyvinyl butyral) or EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) — through a combination of heat and pressure in an autoclave. This interlayer holds the glass together in the event of breakage, preventing dangerous shards from separating and causing injury. The process starts with clean, pre-cut glass layers and a precisely placed interlayer film. After assembly, the stack is de-aired in a vacuum bag or roller press and then subjected to heat and pressure in the autoclave. The result is a single, impact-resistant panel that offers enhanced safety, sound control, UV protection, and structural integrity. Laminated glass is commonly used in applications requiring additional safety, security, or acoustic performance — such as storefronts, skylights, overhead glazing, and high-traffic interior partitions. It can also incorporate decorative elements, colors, or printed films for custom design solutions.
